ABOUT

Caroline Krouwels started her career as a designer for fashion brand x-As, where she developed creative craftsmanship as well as an entrepreneurial drive. In 1996, this resulted in the assembly of her own design studio, CK Concepts, where collections were created for clients such as HEMA, Claudia Sträter and de Bijenkorf. In the same year, she and three other designers founded the bi-annual business-to-business trade event Modefabriek, which has become one of the most leading fashion trade events.

After she was asked to be Head of Styling for de Bijenkorf in 2004, her focus shifted from making collections to more abstract and conceptual thinking. Furthermore, in her position as Head of Creative (2012 – 2017), she was responsible for the creative direction of the Dutch luxury department store.

Supported by a talented team, Krouwels developed forecasts, creative strategies, communication concepts, product design and architectural briefs. Her forecasts are also published in the international trend magazine Textile View.

A recent example of work Caroline curated is Room on the Roof, the artist in residence project in the tower above the Amsterdam flagship store of de Bijenkorf.
